Our fourteenth issue dives into the theme of water – the essence of life and, increasingly, a site of fierce struggle. In our lead section, we examine the fight to save Lough Neagh from pollution and state neglect, explore the widespread contamination of Ireland’s seas and rivers, and reflect on the lessons of Ireland’s victorious anti-water charges movement a decade ago. Together, these articles highlight the deep interconnection between water, community, and resistance, while exposing the persistent failures of both the capitalist state and market-based solutions to protect this vital resource.
